Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity
believes that all people deserve a decent place to live. We
need your help. As our organization grows so does our need
for donations and volunteers.
Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity
(TMHH) has embarked on the largest ever low-income homeownership
build in the Truckee Meadows. We are building 13 new homes on
Mt. Charleston Street in the Stead area on a parcel of land
donated by the City of Reno.
These homes will be simple but decent dwellings for families
whose annual income is less than 50% of the median for the area;
therefore not high enough for them to qualify for a conventional
mortgage. The chosen families are required to:
· show ability to repay the no profit, 0%
interest loan
· work 500 hours on their home or homes of others
· have a need for adequate housing
We are able to do this using volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of
money and materials. We need to secure sponsorships for all
5 more homes in order to complete this project on time. To date
we have secured Sponsorships for 6 of the 13 homes. We need
$375,000 more to complete the homes and $75,000
for roads and utilities.
Full house sponsor - $75,000
Co-sponsor $20,000 to $50,000

Cost Breakdown
Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity has enjoyed a successful
history since 1989 we have completed 20 homes for 20 families
in the Washoe County area. The average monthly principal payment
for our families is only $310.00. In the Reno area you could
not even rent a studio apartment for that little, let alone
house a whole family. Seventy-five percent of our homes are
owned by single mothers and combined they are homes to 65 children.
The Mt. Charleston project will be home to 83% single mothers
and 19 children.
In closing I
would like to include a quote from
a past sponsor, “Sponsoring and building our Habitat home
has been like expecting your first child. You pray, you plan,
you watch it grow and one glorious day it’s born and you
begin to watch it grow up. We will forever be able to drive
by and say we did that and a family is better off because of
what we built.”
Thank you for the opportunity to share with you what Truckee
Meadows Habitat for Humanity is doing in Washoe County and how
you can help break the cycle of despair for a well deserving
family.
